Recent time slip in Essex

The following account was submitted by Belle from Essex:

I was driving at the time (I know ... a little scary). It was a route that I have driven many, many times and I know the route very well. It is a straight road that leads to a small town near where I live. The road is a two-way road with fields either side, trees lining the road and a crematorium and some houses just before the road bends around. For a very short period of time (only minutes, if not seconds), I suddenly saw the road in a completely different light - the road was a dirt track, no tarmac, no pavements, the trees were still there, but they were a lot, lot shorter/smaller and the crematorium was gone as were the houses - it all looked very rural. As you can imagine, I was pretty taken aback and wondered what had just happened to me. It was all over so quick and I was back driving the tarmac road again. Very strange. I don't recall feeling like I was driving over rough terrain, in fact, nothing actual 'felt' different at all, it was all just visual. I have driven that route many times again since and it has never happened again.
I was alone in the car and so have no one to validate my experience, sadly. So, it could be I just went a little crazy for a few minutes.

Proofing an essay before it was written / A pregnancy announcement twice in a row

These two stories have, yet again, happened to my friend Josie

1st story: A couple weeks ago, Josie received an email from a friend along with an attachment of an essay. This friend wanted Josie to read the essay before the friend submitted it to the professor. Josie was discussing the essay with the friends currently around her at the time. She read through it, said (aloud) that it was fine, and that although the conclusion seemed rushed, she thought her friend could hand it in and get a decent grade.

A while after this happened, the writer of the essay arrived on the scene. She mentioned that she needed to finish her essay so she could send it to Josie to proofread. Josie informed her she had already read it. Her friend said she hadn't even finished writing it, let alone sent it.  When Josie now looked on her phone for the essay, there was nothing.  As you can see, Josie had witnesses for this event.

2nd story: Josie was eating last night for her birthday dinner. One of the members of the party stood and announced that she was pregnant. Everyone congratulated her, etc, and then Josie went to the bathroom. When Josie returned, she was taking a sip of her drink (something she had been doing when the friend announced the pregnancy), and this same friend stood up. The whole thing happened again -- she announced she was pregnant, everyone congratulated her, etc. Josie said nothing this time - she just went along with it. She is just really mystified about what is happening.

An Errant Errand

This story happened to Dana's mother-in-law a couple weeks ago:

Dana's mother-in-law, whom I'll call Ms. B, works in an office as a secretary.  One Wedesday, her boss gave her a series of instructions, including mailing a certain document that was signed and ready to go.  She ran the errands, and when she returned to the office, everyone was in somewhat of an uproar because nobody had any idea where she had gone.  When she explained she had just been running the errands the boss had told her to, the boss claimed to have never given her any of those instructions.  Worse, the document she had just mailed wouldn't be signed and ready until Friday, so she had mailed an incomplete document.

The mystery remains unsolved, and this poor lady has only her memory as a witness.  It upsets her so much, in fact, that she refuses to talk about it.

Time Displacement in the Classroom?

[originally written Wednesday 11/28/2012]

I am a high school teacher. Today, in one of my classes, something kind of interesting happened: First of all, we are on block scheduling in the school where I teach.  That means that we have periods 1-4 on one day, and 5-8 on the second day.  And it always rotates like that. So the kids I saw today I hadn't seen since Monday.  However, when the kids in my second class began showing up, I felt like I had just seen them yesterday.  I don't think I said anything, but when the kids from my 3rd class began showing up, one boy walked in and said, "I feel like I was just in here."  I told him I'd felt the same way.  Then another student walked in, unaware of the first student's remark, and she said, "I feel like I just had this class."  The first student and I were sort of mystified at that point.  Then, another student walked in and said, "I feel like I haven't had this class forever."  Well, that was odd.  It was odd that he felt the opposite of what three of us were feeling, but perhaps odder that so many of us seemed to feel displaced in time.  Then, another student walked in, stopped suddenly, and said, "Something feels different in this room."  (Now, not to dampen the intrigue, but he had missed the previous two classes and during that time I had some new things up on one of the walls.)  I then exclaimed, "What is going on..." and proceeded to review all the strange comments.  One of the students replied suddenly, "We might all be dead!"  Of course, that was hilarious, but it was still intriguing.

Who knows?  It's one of those things that can't quite be categorized, but really interests me.  Maybe there was some upset in the time/space continuum.  lol.
